FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
This is probably the question that we receive most, and why shouldn't it be? You are concerned that you are getting top dollar for your items. Although prices may very,
we'll always give you the best price in Rochester.
Diamond prices are determined by the stone's 4C's: carat, color, clarity and cut. These will be determined by one of our professional jewelers and your check will reflect the stone's quality.
Definitely. Our professionals will determine whether they are actual gold (and also what grade) and pay you accordingly. If the items are not gold, then they will be considered gold-filled material and may yield fractional amounts of gold. If you know that an item is gold plated or costume jewelry, please do not include it.
While diamonds are more difficult for an untrained eye to appraise, there is a way to get a pretty good idea for your gold. First, determine what karat the gold is. This can be done by looking for Hallmarks. Hallmarks are stamped imprints on the jewelry that indicate Karat. They are usually stamped in inconspicous places on the jewelery. 'GF' means the item is 'gold-filled', which indicates a very low value.
Second, determine the weight. You can get a pretty good idea by using a traditional kitchen scale that measures in grams. Then compare the weight and quality with the chart listed at the top of this page and you will have a rough estimation of the value of your items.
